Brief

Our aim was to create a kitchen that complements the character of a family townhouse in Wimbledon. The space needed to be both functional and stylish, catering to a busy family that values a balance of elegance and everyday practicality. The design needed to reflect the home's sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere, ensuring that the kitchen serves as both a lively hub for family activities and a sleek, modern extension of the living areas.

Design

We approached the design with a contemporary, family-friendly focus, drawing inspiration from the townhouse's Georgian architecture and the client’s desire for a versatile space. The kitchen was crafted to encourage family interaction, from daily meals to hosting larger gatherings. Careful attention was given to the layout, ensuring seamless integration with the dining and living areas.

A standout feature is the expansive central island, finished in a rich colour with polished brass fixtures. This multifunctional island serves as a preparation zone, casual dining spot, and gathering place for guests. Durable quartz countertops, chosen for their sleek appearance and practicality, provide ample workspace while adding a touch of modern luxury.

The kitchen's design also emphasizes efficiency and storage. A wall of tall cabinetry includes a mix of integrated appliances and pull-out larders, offering plentiful storage for the family's needs. The cabinetry, designed in a classic shaker style, provides a timeless look while maintaining a clean and organized feel.

Integrated appliances, including a large fridge-freezer and a discreet dishwasher, contribute to the kitchen’s streamlined appearance. The use of natural oak flooring and pendant lighting adds warmth and character, while a contemporary glass backsplash brings a subtle, modern contrast to the otherwise classic design. The result is a sophisticated yet welcoming kitchen, perfectly suited to the needs of a growing family.
