OXSHOTT, SURREY

Brief

Our goal was to design a kitchen that harmonizes with the charm of a countryside cottage in Oxshott. The space needed to serve a client who values both rustic elegance and practicality, ensuring that the kitchen functions as a central hub for daily life while enhancing the home's relaxed, rural atmosphere. Special attention was given to storage, layout, and flow to meet the needs of a family that enjoys both cooking and hosting, with a focus on creating a welcoming and efficient space.

Design

We took a bespoke approach, drawing inspiration from the cottage's natural surroundings and the client's affinity for traditional craftsmanship. The kitchen, nestled within a cozy yet light-filled space, was designed as a warm gathering place for family and friends. Maximising functionality while embracing the cottage's rustic charm was key to the design.

A standout feature is the central island, crafted with an oak worktop with classic brass hardware. This island doubles as a prep area and informal dining spot, inviting guests to join in while maintaining a sense of elegance. The durable, honed stone countertops were selected for their natural beauty and functionality, balancing modern convenience with timeless style.

The cooker wall was strategically positioned for easy access and efficient use, featuring an AGA and hand-crafted cabinetry providing ample storage without disrupting the flow. Full-height cabinets , designed to house the family's pantry essentials and large appliances, while seamlessly blending into the overall aesthetic.

A discreetly integrated fridge-freezer and dishwasher add to the kitchen’s efficiency, all while preserving its uncluttered, refined appearance. Soft lighting fixtures were chosen to reflect the cottage’s natural surroundings, create a space that feels both contemporary and in tune with the home's traditional, countryside character.
