Cobham, Surrey
Brief
Our goal was to design a kitchen that seamlessly blends with the character of this sophisticated pied-à-terre in the heart of Marylebone. The space needed to cater to a discerning client who values both style and practicality, ensuring the kitchen serves as both a functional hub and an elegant extension of the home's refined atmosphere. Thoughtful attention to storage and workflow was integral to the design, meeting the needs of a part-time city resident with an appreciation for understated luxury.
Design
We took a bespoke, furniture-inspired approach to create cabinetry that drew on the client’s love of Georgian era. The kitchen, situated within a compact yet bright space, a would be place for family and friends to congregate together due to their shared love of cooking. To maintain harmony with the apartment's flow, we embraced a tailored design that maximises the available space.
A key feature is the sleek central island, combining soft grey cabinetry with elegant chrome hardware. This island serves as both a preparation area and a social gathering point, bringing a warm yet sophisticated element to the room. The honed marble countertops, chosen for their timeless beauty, provide ample workspace while maintaining a contemporary edge.
The cooker wall was designed with a view to allow for ease of use in this small space. The integrated appliances and custom cabinetry create an uncluttered look while offering generous storage for the client’s culinary tools and ingredients. Slim, full-height larders line one wall, equipped with a large fridge freezer to allow easy access without disrupting the flow of the room.
A discreetly integrated fridge-freezer and dishwasher enhance the kitchen’s functionality, while maintaining a clean, streamlined aesthetic. Contemporary lighting fixtures and a marble backsplash, hand selected by our, lend the space a modern yet timeless feel that complements the historical character of the property.
